Abstract
This study explores King Solomon’s application of wisdom in governance as presented in biblical narratives, particularly 1 Kings 3:1–28 and examines how such wisdom principles could inform the leadership paradigms of contemporary African leaders. Drawing from textual exegesis and qualitative interviews with Christian leaders, theologians, and political scholars across Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana, the paper investigates the practical imperatives of divine wisdom—discernment, justice, moral integrity, and administrative skill—in addressing Africa’s sociopolitical challenges. Findings reveal a significant disconnect between religious knowledge and leadership practice among modern African leaders, while highlighting the relevance of Solomon’s model as a foundation for transformational governance. The study concludes by offering theological and ethical recommendations for fostering wisdom-based leadership within African sociopolitical systems.
