Abstract
Witchcraft beliefs continue to influence everyday life in many African societies. These beliefs are deeply embedded in cultural worldviews and can shape spousal relationships, household power dynamics, marriage stability, and conflict resolution. This paper examines how witchcraft narratives intersect with spousal dynamism defined here as the shifting patterns of roles, power, suspicion, and negotiation between spouses in African contexts. Drawing on anthropological, sociological, and legal literature, it argues that while witchcraft accusations between spouses often reflect broader social anxieties, they also reveal gendered power structures, negotiation of authority within marriage, and the impact of socio-economic pressures on intimate relationships. The paper concludes by suggesting avenues for research, policy, and community engagement to mitigate harm while respecting cultural worldviews.
