Abstract
Terrorism is a major problem today in the Nigerian space. The different regions of the country are battling with one version of terrorism or the other. This current development has generated high level of insecurity of lives and property in the nation. Boko Haram is one of the terrorist groups in Nigeria which is dominant in the north east of Nigeria. The insurgent group has continued to launch attacks on the people, destroying lives, kidnapping and abducting men and women. The state of insecurity in every nation affects both men and women but more importantly the feminine folk. The impact of Boko Haram on the feminine folk is quite traumatic and devastating because of the double tragedy of abuse. The continual attacks of Boko Haram on the people have made life miserable for them, especially the feminine folk, this paper interrogates the impact of Boko Haram insurgence and the trauma it creates in the feminine folk. The paper studies this from the literary perspective by analyzing selected stories from the short stories in Ordinary Saviour, New Stories from Nigeria’s Northeast and draws its strength from the postcolonial, ecofeminist and trauma theories of literature. It discovers from the stories studied that the feminine folk is a major target of the insurgence and the impact on these females leave them traumatized.
